Julie GAVREL alias JOU.
Ceramics, a new professional start as a matter of course.
Jou, it’s me.
My name is Julie Gavrel, I’m married and mother of 2 children. After 15 years of intense professional life in digital marketing and data in Paris, I left my job to follow my husband to Dubai. A godsend for someone like me who wanted to find another professional challenge…
Once installed, I took the time to think about this professional retraining which was already oriented around interior decoration. Then, one day I dared.
I walked through the door of a ceramics studio to take pottery lessons. This encounter with the clay was obvious… So, I’ve been working for a year, taking several courses, testing, failing, learning, I love it!…
Then, I decided to take another step in September 2022. I created my small business: Jou Ceramic. Imagine, produce, create, draw, glaze, with the aim of selling my pieces under the name of Jou Ceramic. Using the wheel or by hand, I create everyday objects, tableware, decorative objects.

JOYFUL STORY
Jou, these are unique and artisanal pieces, produced in small quantities.
Unique, chic and joyful pieces that reflect the personality of its creator, Julie (aka Jou).
Pieces that are sometimes offbeat, perfectly imperfect, authentic, timeless, sometimes simple but always cheerful, objects that are easy to give as a gift or to keep preciously for yourself, like Proust madeleines.
VALUES
Authentic
Pieces that show themselves as they are, carefree and faithful to the person who created them.
Timeless
Pieces with a minimalist and timeless design that can accompany you every day
Unique
Creations made in small quantities, sometimes unique pieces according to my desires and my moods but always with the aim of brightening up our interiors.
Perfectly Imperfect
Perfect does not exist! I like pretty things, but sometimes with small flaws, imperfections which give character to a piece and its unique and chic side, a bit like each of us.
Sustainability
I take care to recycle the clay, use paper packaging to deliver his pieces, and pay attention to the quantity of water used to make these pieces. Every effort counts.
